Blind Because Of Fireworks (or, "fire cracker")

fuse inside and KABAM off it went! The timing was so perfect that it left the boy totally blind for the rest of his life.
Now I have raised several children and on many 4th of Julys have remembered this true story and passed it on to my children. Fireworks and firecrackers are tons of fun but, they should be respected. No one should ever end up blind or injured in any way.
I our lifetimes there are certain thing that we experience or hear about that have a dramatic impact on us and leave lasting impressions. This story that I heard when I was young was about a man who was blind because of fireworks. I heard about what had happened when I was about 12 and for the pas thirty five years every time I am around fireworks I remember what I was told. Here's the story as I remember it to be.
This was back in the early nineteen thirties when firecrackers were rather potent and I am sure less regulated than they are now. Apparently there were several young boys in their teen years lighting off fire crackers. Well one of the ones that they had thrown didn't explode so the boys went to check it out. One of the young men picked up the fire cracker and was looking at it and another one of the boys said let me see it. The young man wouldn't let him have a look. So, he said again let me see it grabbed his arm and the boy holding the fire cracker shoved it in his face. Little did they know but, there was a smoldering
